Die Verbindung mit einem WLAN ist nicht immer ganz so einfach wie man denkt. Lassen Sie sich nicht entmutigen wenn es nicht gerade auf den ersten Anhieb funktioniert, das ist ganz normal.

Ich versuche hier, Ihnen ein paar Details zu erklären und Schritt für Schritt zum Erfolg zu verhelfen.

Dieses WLAN Modul basiert absichtlich nur auf langlebigen Technologien und nutzt keine Dienste die das Modul "nach Hause telefonieren" lassen. Das Modul hat also KEINE Verbindung zu irgendeinem Server von mir oder sonstigen Anbietern. Das Modul hat keine Hintertüren oder versteckte Zugänge. Aus diesen Gründen ist es nicht immer ganz trivial, dafür aber auf gewöhnlicher Netzwerktechnologen aufgesetzt.

Preface

Connecting to a WLAN is not always as easy as you might think. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't work the first time, that's absolutely normal.

Here I am trying to explain a few details to you and help you achieve success step by step.

This WLAN module is purposely based on long-lasting technologies and does not use any services that allow the module to "call home". The module has NO connection to any server from me or any other provider. The module has no back doors or hidden entrances. For these reasons, it is not always entirely trivial, but it is based on ordinary network technologists.

Dieser Router vergibt jedem Gerät das sich einklinken will eine Adresse (DHCP IP Modus) oder akzeptiert bei Geräten den Wunsch, dass sie selber eine Adresse verwenden wollen (Static IP).	How does WiFi work A WLAN network always needs a boss. This is the router that spans the WLAN network. This is responsible and looks at who is allowed to radio with whom, who is allowed to go into the network (password) and so that no one overhears who is not allowed (encryption). This router assigns an address to every device that wants to connect (DHCP IP mode) or accepts the wish that devices want to use an address themselves (Static IP).
Ein WLAN kann also von einem Router aufgespannt werden, und das WLAN Modul kann sich in dieses Netzwerk verbinden. So sollte das am Schluss sein, aber vorher muss man das WLAN Modul konfigurieren. Und das geht nur so wie im nächsten Abschnitt.	A WLAN can therefore be set up by a router and the WLAN module can connect to this network. This is how it should be at the end, but first you have to configure the WLAN module. And that only works like in the next section.

Das ReVox WLAN Modul kann aber auch selber als "Chef" agieren und selber ein WLAN Netzwerk aufspannen und so selber andere Teilnehmer zulassen oder aussperren. Diesen Modus, wenn das ReVox Modul selber ein WLAN aufspannt, wird nur am Anfanng einmal verwendet damit man sich mit dem PC oder Handy mit dem Modul verbinden kann. Danach konfiguriert man mit den Handy oder PC das Modul und sagt ihm, in welches Netz es sich verbinden soll. Man muss ihm also den Netzwerknamen und das Passwort mitteilen. Ebenfalls muss man dem Modul auch sagen, ob es die Adresse vom Router beziehen soll oder ob es selber einen Wunsch für die eigene IP Adresse angeben soll. Ist das dann einmal gesetzt, so startet sich das Modul neu und verbindet sich in das Netzwerk, das bei Ihnen zu Hause bereits existiert. Then you configure the module with the cell phone or PC and tell it to which network it should connect. So you have to tell him the network name and password. You also have to tell the module whether it should get the address from the router or whether it should specify a request for the own IP address itself. Once this is set, the module restarts and connects to the network that already exists in your home.

Schritt für Schritt

Machen Sie sich zuerst klar, wie ihr bestehendes WLAN heisst und wie das Passwort lautet. Halten Sie diese beiden Daten griffbereit. Achten Sie darauf, dass an Ihren Router das SSID Broadcasting eingeschalten ist, sonst ist das WLAN Netz nicht sichtbar.

Es ist am besten, wenn sie dem ReVox Modul eine statische IP Adresse zuweisen, denn wenn Sie die dynamische IP Adressen Zuweisung (DHCP) verwenden, dann ändert die Adresse potentiell jeden Tag. Sie müssen aber über die Adresse in der Browserzeile drauf zugreifen, und das würde dann umständlich, wenn Sie jeden Tag zuerst diese Adresse herausfinden müssten. Wenn Sie eine IP Adresse, die Subnetzadresse, den Defaultgateway und die Adresse des DNS Servers wissen bzw. festgelegt haben, überspringen Sie den nächsten Block und das Beispiel.

Die neuen Versionen des WLAN Moduls (ab April 2023) unterstützen auch mDNS. Das heisst, Sie können zusätzlich dem Modul einen Namen geben, über welchen man dann im Browser auf das Modul zugreifen kann. Dieser Name bleibt auch bei wechselnder IP Adresse immer gleich. Wenn Ihr Modul zb "reel2reel" heisst, greifen Sie im Browser mit http://reel2reel.local auf das Modul zu. Das ".local" muss dem Namen angehängt werden.

Definieren der IP Adresse, Subnetzadresse, Defaultgateway und DNS-Server

Ihr ReVox Modul braucht zuerst eine Adresse, diese muss aber in Ihr bestehendes Netzwerk passen. Nehmen Sie dazu Ihr Handy, verbinden es mit Ihren bestehenden WLAN und gehen Sie dann in die WLAN Settings und darin in die Konfiguration des gerade aktiven Netzwerkes. Suchen Sie nun Ihre IP Adresse, die vermutlich 192.168.1.??? oder 192.168.0.??? sein wird. Wenn Sie eine Fritz!Box verwenden ist sie meist 192.168.178.???. Wenn das so ist, wählen Sie nun die IP Adresse für Ihr Gerät. Nehmen Sie am besten eine Adresse zwischen 230 und 240, denn dort sind meist keine Adressen reserviert für DHCP. Dann wäre Ihre Adresse dann zum Beispiel 192.168.1.235 oder 192.168.0.235 oder eben 192.168.178.235. Sie müssen sich an das bestehende Schema Ihres WLANs halten. Die Subnetzadresse ist meistens 255.255.255.0 und der Defaultgateway ist üblicherweise gleich wie Ihre IP Adresse nur eine 1 am Schluss, also 192.168.1.1 oder 192.168.0.1 oder 192.168.178.1. Das muss nicht immer so sein, wenn Sie das nachsehen können tun Sie das bitte, ansonsten nehmen Sie einfach mal die 1 am Schluss. Notieren Sie sich diese 3 Adressen. Der DNS-Server ist im Normalfall bei diesen Router gleich wie der DefaultGateway.

Es ist ein bisschen von den üblichen Einstellungen in Ihrer Umgebung abhängig. Ich der Schweiz wird meist ein 192.168.1.??? Netzwerk verwendet, in Deutschland mit Fritz!Boxen meist ein 192.168.178.??? Netzwerk

Beispiel (Schweiz):

Konfigurieren und Verbinden

Wenn Sie das ReVox Modul nun in ihr Netzwerk verbinden wollen, so muss es als erstes selber ein WLAN aufspannen, damit Sie sich mit dem Handy oder PC damit verbinden können. Das tut das Modul automatisch beim 230V Strom einschalten, weil es sich in kein bestehendes Netzwerk verbinden kann. Schalten Sie also das ReVox Gerät einfach ein. (Sollte das nicht der Fall sein, schauen Sie in der Anleitung nach, wie Sie das Modul in den AccessPoint-Modus ohne passwort versetzen können)

Nach etwa 30 Sekunden sollte das Netzwerk eröffnet sein. Das Netzwerk hat einen Namen, das sehen Sie in der spezifischen Beschreibung zum Modul. Das kann "ReVox-B77-LWSt" oder "ReVox_Reel2Reel" sein oder "ReVox-B710-WLAN" etc sein. Jetzt ist das ReVox Modul der Chef dieses WLANs. Verbinden Sie nun Ihr Handy mit diesem Netzwerk. Das Handy wird sich ohne Passwort verbinden und nach kurzer Zeit merken, dass in diesem WLAN kein Internet vorhanden ist. Wenn Sie gefragt werden vom Handy, schauen Sie, dass Sie in diesem WLAN verbleiben. Öffnen Sie nun nach etwa 30 Sekunden den Browser und tippen Sie in der Adressleiste exakt folgendes ein (Hier sind Sie nun im WLAN von dem ReVox Gerät und müssen exakt diese Adresse eintippen) und drücken danach ENTER: "http://192.168.1.1" oder bei der B77 auch "http://reel2reel.local". Wenn Sie alles vom PC aus machen achten Sie ebenfalls drauf, dass der PC in diesem WLAN verbleibt und es nicht umgehend wieder verlässt. Sonst verbinden Sie erneut, bis die Verbindung erhalten bleibt. Im Notfall wenn der PC das WLAn immer wieder verlässt, deaktvieren Sie die automatische Verbindung mit Ihren gewohnten Netzwerk und aktivieren es unbeding am Schluss dann wieder. (Siehe roter Pfeil)

Step by step

First, make sure what your existing WLAN is called and what the password is. Keep these two pieces of information ready. Make sure that SSID broadcasting is switched on on your router, otherwise the WLAN network is not visible.

It is best to assign a static IP address to the ReVox module because if you use dynamic IP address assignment (DHCP) the address potentially changes every day. But you have to access it via the address in the browser line, and that would be cumbersome if you had to find out this address first every day. If you know or have specified an IP address, the subnet address, the default gateway and the address of the DNS server, skip the next block and the example.

The new versions of the WLAN module (from April 2023) also support mDNS. This means that you can also give the module a name, which can then be used to access the module in the browser. This name always remains the same even if the IP address changes. If your module is called e.g. "reel2reel", you access the module in the browser with http://reel2reel.local. The ".local" must be appended to the name.

Define the IP address, subnet address, default gateway and DNS server

Your ReVox module first needs an address, but this has to fit into your existing network. To do this, take your mobile phone, connect it to your existing WLAN and then go to the WLAN settings and then to the configuration of the currently active network. Now look for your IP address, which is probably 192.168.1. ??? or 192.168.0. ??? will be. If you use a Fritz!Box it is usually 192.168.178. ???. If so, now select the IP address for your device. It is best to use an address between 230 and 240, because there are usually no addresses reserved for DHCP. Then your address would be 192.168.1.235 or 192.168.0.235 or 192.168.178.235, for example. You have to stick to the existing scheme of your WLAN. The subnet address is usually 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway is usually the same as your IP address, only a 1 at the end, i.e. 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.178.1. It doesn't always have to be that way, if you can look it up, please do so, otherwise just take the 1 at the end. Make a note of these 3 addresses. The DNS server for these routers is usually the same as the default gateway.

It depends a bit on the usual settings in your environment. I Switzerland will mostly be a 192.168.1. ??? Network used, in Germany with Fritz!Boxes mostly a 192.168.178. ??? network

Example (Switzerland):
IP address 192.168.1.235
Subnet address: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS server: 192.168.1.1

IP address 192.168.178.235
Subnet address: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.178.1

Configure and connect

If you want to connect the ReVox module to your network, you first have to set up a WLAN yourself so that you can connect to it with your mobile phone or PC. The module does this automatically when the 230V power is switched on, because it cannot connect to any existing network. So just turn on the ReVox device. (If this is not the case, look in the instructions for how you can switch the module to AccessPoint mode without a password)

After about 30 seconds, the network should be open. The network has a name, which you can see in the specific description of the module. This can be "ReVox-B77-LWSt" or "ReVox_Reel2Reel" or "ReVox-B710-WLAN" etc. Now the ReVox module is the boss of this WLAN. Now connect your mobile phone to this network. The mobile phone will connect without a password and after a short time notice that there is no internet in this WLAN. If you are asked by the mobile phone, make sure that you stay in this WLAN. Now open the browser after about 30 seconds and type in exactly the following in the address bar (you are now in the WLAN of the ReVox device and must type in exactly this address) and then press ENTER: "http://192.168.1.1" or with the B77 also "http://reel2reel.local". If you do everything from the PC, make sure that the PC remains in this WLAN and does not leave it again immediately. Otherwise, connect again until the connection is maintained. In an emergency, if the PC keeps leaving the WLAN, deactivate the automatic connection to your usual network and then activate it again at the end. (See red arrow)

Manchmal müssen Sie die Internetseite mehrmals aktualisieren mit dem runden Pfeil oder am PC mit F5. Die Startseite vom Modul wird angezeigt, es ist KEIN Bild vom Gerät auf dieser Seite sichtbar.

Wenn Sie das Handy nicht mit dem WLAN verbinden können oder es danach einfach nicht funktioniert kann es sein, dass nun das WLAN Modul auf genau serselben Frequenz wie Ihr WLAN zu Hause funkt. Dann stören sich die beiden Geräte und die Kommunikation ist nur schwer oder gar nicht möglich.Wechseln Sie dann den Kanal des WLAN Moduls, das bedeutet nichts anderes als dass dann die Frequenz geändert wird. Das müssen Sie je nach Gerät anders machen, schauen Sie dazu in der Anleitung zum jeweiligen Modul nach.

Wenn Sie dann mit dem Modul verbunden sind und die Startseite sichbar ist, klicken Sie unten auf "Settings".

Eine weitere Seite öffnet sich und sie sollten nun die am Anfang aufgeschriebenen Details einfüllen. Zuerst wählen Sie zuoberst unter SSID Ihr Netzwerk zu Hause aus. Wenn dieses nicht sichtbar ist, aktualisieren Sie die Seite nochmals mit dem runden Pfeil oder am PC mit F5. Danach erfassen Sie das Passwort zu Ihrem WLAN.

Nun müssen Sie die Adressdaten für das WLAN angeben. Zuerst soll das Modul auf "Static" gesetzt werden. Das bedeutet, dass die von Ihnen eingegebene IP Adresse verwendet werden soll. Danach füllen Sie die IP Adresse, die Subnetzadresse, die Default Gateway und die DNS-Server Adresse ein.

Ist alles erfasst und kein Feld mehr rot, drücken Sie auf Speichern.

Sometimes you have to update the website several times with the round arrow or on the PC with F5. The start page of the module is displayed, NO picture of the device is visible on this page.

If you cannot connect the mobile phone to the WLAN or it simply does not work afterwards, it may be that the WLAN module is now broadcasting on exactly the same frequency as your WLAN at home. Then the two devices interfere and communication is difficult or impossible. Then change the channel of the WLAN module, that means nothing else than that the frequency is then changed. You have to do this differently depending on the device, see the instructions for the respective module.

When you are connected to the module and the start page is visible, click on "Settings" below.

Another page opens and you should now fill in the details written at the beginning. First select your home network under SSID. If this is not visible, refresh the page again with the round arrow or on the PC with F5. Then enter the password for your WLAN.

Now you have to enter the address data for the WLAN. First the module should be set to "Static". This means that the IP address you entered should be used. Then fill in the IP address, the subnet address, the default gateway and the DNS server address.

When everything is recorded and there are no more fields red, press Save.

Das Modul startet nun neu. Nach etwa 1 Sekunde leuchtet eine blaue LED am WLAN Modul. Sobald es sich erfolgreich in Ihr WLAN zu Hause verbunden hat, erlischt diese blaue LED wieder und blinkt nur noch bei Aktivität kurz auf. Wenn die LED nicht erlischt, war die Verbindung in Ihr WLAN zu Hause nicht erfolgreich. Bitte verbinden Sie Ihr Handy oder PC nochmals mit dem ReVox WLAN Modul und korrigieren Sie allenfalls Fehler im Passwort.

Jetzt ist hoffentllich das Modul mit Ihrem WLAN zu Hause verbunden, die blaue LED ist erloschen und das Modul benötigt keine eigene Frequenz (Kanal) mehr.

Jetzt verbinden Sie Ihr Handy oder PC wieder mit Ihrem gewohnten WLAN zu Hause. Nun öffnen Sie den Browser und geben die Adresse des ReVox WLAN Moduls ein. Sie haben sich die Adresse notiert: "http://192.168.1.235" oder bei Fritz!Boxen "http://192.168.178.235" und drücken ENTER. Alternativ öffnen Sie die Adresse "http://reel2reel.local". Manchmal dauerts eine Weile, bis sich die Seite öffnet.

Die Startseite vom Modul öffnet sich langsam, es dauert etwa 10 Sekunden und das Bild der Maschine ist nun auch sichtbar. Steuern Sie nun Ihre ReVox Maschine im Browser. Bedenken Sie, die RECORD Taste ist versteckt und kommt erst duch Klick auf den Titel zum Vorschein.

Setzen Sie sich ein Lesezeichen im Browser, damit Sie nicht immer die Adresse eintippen müssen. So können Sie später immer einfach über das Lesezeichen die Steuerung öffnen.

The module will now restart. After about 1 second, a blue LED lights up on the WLAN module. As soon as it has successfully connected to your WLAN at home, this blue LED goes out again and only flashes briefly when there is activity. If the LED does not go out, the connection to your WLAN at home was not successful. Please reconnect your mobile phone or PC to the ReVox WLAN module and correct any errors in the password.

Now the module is hopefully connected to your WLAN at home, the blue LED has gone out and the module no longer needs its own frequency (channel).

Now reconnect your cell phone or PC to your usual WLAN at home. Now open the browser and enter the address of the ReVox WLAN module. You have noted the address: "http://192.168.1.235" or "http://192.168.178.235" for Fritz!Boxes and press ENTER. Alternatively, open the address "http://reel2reel.local". Sometimes it takes a while until the page opens.

The start page of the module opens slowly, it takes about 10 seconds and the image of the machine is now also visible. Now control your ReVox machine in the browser. Remember, the RECORD button is hidden and only comes to light by clicking on the title.

Set a bookmark in the browser so that you don't always have to type in the address. In this way you can always open the control later easily via the bookmark.
